
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on petroleum products on Friday, where officials confirmed that Pakistan holds sufficient petrol reserves to meet national demand despite regional uncertainties. The briefing highlighted the importance of maintaining smooth fuel supply across all provinces.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Petroleum assured participants that petroleum stocks are adequate and can meet the country’s needs. The prime minister emphasized that provincial authorities must actively monitor supplies and prevent any artificial shortages.

PM Shehbaz directed strict legal action against hoarders, stating that petrol pumps creating artificial scarcity should be immediately sealed, their licenses revoked, and responsible individuals prosecuted. The government aims to curb panic buying and ensure fair distribution for consumers.
He further instructed the Petroleum Minister to visit provinces and coordinate with local authorities to develop a comprehensive strategy. This strategy will focus on conserving petroleum products and ensuring uninterrupted availability to the public across all regions.

In addition, the prime minister ordered the creation of a real-time monitoring dashboard for petroleum movement. This system will enable authorities to track fuel transportation efficiently, share data with provincial administrations, and prevent stockpiling or hoarding practices.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, the Governor of the State Bank, chief secretaries of all provinces, and officials from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Their participation underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and strict enforcement.
