Aleema Khan exempted from court appearance in protest case

Published on: March 2, 2026 4:18 PM

The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted Aleema Khan exemption from attending hearings in the November 26 protest case, following a formal request submitted by her legal team. The court accepted the plea, allowing her to remain absent from proceedings.

During the session, Aleema Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Malik Advocate, represented her and presented the exemption request. The court reviewed the submission carefully before issuing the order, highlighting judicial discretion in allowing personal attendance exemptions under certain circumstances.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah announced the exemption, emphasizing that Aleema Khan must continue to cooperate with the court through her legal counsel. The decision reflects the court’s willingness to consider procedural requests while ensuring the case remains on track.

Following the exemption, the hearing for Aleema Khan in the November 26 protest case was adjourned until March 4. The court directed all parties to prepare for the next session and ensure timely submissions of relevant documents and evidence.

Legal observers note that exemptions of this nature are granted in cases where defendants are represented by counsel and do not hinder judicial proceedings. This measure allows the court to maintain efficiency while accommodating practical circumstances of the accused.

Authorities confirmed that the case remains active, and Aleema Khan’s legal team will continue representing her interests until the next hearing. The court also reminded both sides to comply with procedural requirements and maintain readiness for the adjourned session.
