DCs told to ensure smooth traffic flow in Karachi during Ramazan

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, on Tuesday directed the deputy commissioners to make all out efforts for removal of traffic congestion in the city on the occasion of holy month of Ramazan

In this regard Karachi administration has taken special measures to maintain traffic flow on busy roads and streets during Ramazan.

The Deputy Commissioners have been directed to prioritize actions against roadside encroachments and ensure citizens don’t face traffic congestion during Iftar hours.

Deputy Commissioners have submitted reports on actions taken against roadside encroachments to improve traffic flow.

According to reports, encroachments were removed from 26 locations in various districts, and six hotels were sealed on Monday.

In District South, encroachments were removed from Boat Basin Food Street, Frere Town, Bohri Bazaar, and Daud Pota Road. In District East, encroachments were cleared from New M.A. Jinnah Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Kamran Chaurangi, and Chandi Residency.

In District Central, encroachments were removed from Kareemabad, Sohrab Goth bus stand, M. Liaquatabad Bird Market, Super Market Liaquatabad, and Razvia Golimar. In District Keamari, encroachments were cleared from Hub River Road and Chobis Market.

In District Korangi, encroachments were removed from Korangi Crossing, Liaquat Market, Model Colony, and Shah Faisal Colony No. 2. In District Malir, encroachments were cleared from Nishtarabad Main Road, National Highway, Wire Gate, and Shah Town Landhi Road.

In District West, encroachments were removed from various locations in Orangi. Deputy Commissioners reported that six hotels were sealed for roadside encroachments in District South, East, and Malir.

 

Banks to remain closed on Ramazan 1

The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed for public dealing on 1st Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, 1447 A.H., which shall be observed as “Bank Holiday” for the purpose of deduction of Zakat.

All banks / DFIs / MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on the afore-mentioned date. However, all employees of the banks / DFIs / MFBs will attend the office on Bank Holiday treating it as a normal working day (except for public dealing).

 

Sindh government issues office timings for Ramazan

The Sindh government has issued an official notification outlining government office timings for the month of Ramazan. According to the notification, offices will remain open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, government offices will operate from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The provincial government stated that these timings will apply to all government, autonomous, private institutions, and local councils across Sindh. The notification regarding provincial office hours during Ramadan was issued with the approval of the Chief Secretary. Relevant authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the announced timings.
