Memon hails launch of digital property registration

Published on: February 12, 2026 5:22 AM

Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that the launch of digital property registration is a revolutionary and historic step for overseas Pakistanis. The new system will eliminate the difficulties they face in buying and selling property, allowing them to complete sale deeds online at Pakistani embassies and missions abroad.

In a statement, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that after the amendment to the Sindh Registration Act, overseas Pakistanis will be exempted from personal attendance at registration offices, while biometric and facial verification has also been made possible through the e-registration system linked to NADRA. He added that these measures will restore the confidence of overseas Pakistanis and help prevent property fraud.

He further stated that handing over the e-stamping system to Sindh’s own IT organization, the Sindh Information Technology Company, is a significant step toward digital autonomy for the province. The five-year service contract is valued at Rs7 million per month, with an annual increase of 10 percent. He said e-stamping will improve revenue collection, and citizens will have access to modern features such as a mobile app, paperless stamp duty, and two-factor authentication.

He added that the establishment of a modern fruit and vegetable market in Larkana at a cost of Rs4.8 billion will strengthen the agricultural economy. The project will include a boundary wall, a modern drainage system, an administrative block, medical facilities, banking services, and a green belt to provide improved facilities for farmers and traders.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said the decision to convert consumer courts into traffic courts has been taken to ensure speedy justice for citizens. He noted that Rs342 billion was frozen in the form of bank guarantees in 635 cases, affecting development activities. However, the Sindh cabinet has approved a comprehensive settlement of the Sindh Development and Maintenance of Infrastructure Cess dispute. Under this arrangement, 15 percent of the recognized dues will be paid in three phases, while the remaining amount will be recovered in 12 equal annual installments.

He said trade is being promoted by granting full exemption on re-exports under the Export Facilitation Scheme. He further stated that the Sindh government has significantly expanded the area of protected mangroves in the Indus Delta, declaring 405,002 acres of intertidal land in Sujawal district as protected forest. This will serve as a natural shield against cyclones and tidal waves. He added that international standards recommend 25 percent forest cover, whereas only 10 percent of Sindh’s area is currently designated as protected or reserved forest. This decision will further increase the already protected area of 566,298 hectares in the Indus Delta.

Sindh Govt initiates preparations for Youth Card programme

The Sindh government has begun preparations to launch a Youth Card aimed at benefiting young people across the province. The Department of Sports has been directed to develop the necessary procedures for its implementation.

A meeting in this regard was held at the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, to review progress on the proposed Youth Card initiative.

Addressing the meeting, the minister instructed the Sports Secretary to devise a comprehensive mechanism to ensure maximum benefits for the youth of the province. Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar stated that, on the special instructions of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh Youth Card is planned to be launched before June this year. He added that the card will provide young people with access to facilities and support in education, skills development, employment opportunities, monthly stipends, scholarships, and sports activities.
