Adolescence co-creator hints at possible sequel

Published on: January 14, 2026 3:47 PM

Netflix’s series Adolescence has been making headlines for its gripping storyline and award-winning performances. On Sunday, the show won four Golden Globes, including Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Backstage, co-creator and actor Stephen Graham, who also won a Globe for his performance, hinted at the possibility of a second season. Speaking to Deadline, he said, “I cannot answer that question because it’s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack’s mind, and we’ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned.”

Even though the smash hit Netflix show ‘Adolescence’ was a limited series, speaking backstage at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, its co-creator and star Stephen Graham suggested he and co-creator Jack Thorne were mulling over a return

Speculation about a sequel has been growing since April, when producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner confirmed discussions with director Philip Barantini for a “second iteration” of the show. Gardner added that the team aimed to “widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive.”

While details about the plot and cast remain under wraps, statements from Graham and co-creator Jack Thorne indicate that the new series would not continue Jamie’s story. Graham told Variety, “There’s the possibility of developing another story,” while Thorne said in an interview with ITV, “I think Jamie’s story is finished… We’d love to explore the one-shot format in another way. We’d love to tell other stories with it.”

Graham’s wife and producing partner, Hannah Walters, also ruled out the possibility of a prequel, saying, “That’s certainly not going to happen.”
