Palace explains festive pause on royal social media activity

Published on: December 23, 2025 4:23 PM

Palace Makes Move Protect Royal Family from Social Media Trolls

The Palace has shared an update regarding its official social media activity, asking followers for understanding as senior members of the royal family gather at Sandringham for their traditional Christmas celebrations. The message was issued as part of preparations for the festive season.

King Charles’s office confirmed that while the monarchy’s digital platforms will remain active over the holidays, response times may be slower than usual. The update was shared to manage expectations among royal followers who regularly engage with palace-run accounts.

The royal communications team plays a key role in keeping the public informed about the monarchy’s activities, milestones, and historical insights. One of its prominent branches, the Royal Collection Trust, is particularly known for sharing behind-the-scenes details, artefacts, and stories linked to Britain’s royal heritage.

With Christmas approaching, the Palace acknowledged that its social media team would also be taking a short seasonal break. However, officials reassured followers that festive content would continue to be published during this period.

“Our social media team is having a bit of a break over Christmas too, so while we’ll still be posting content to keep you feeling festive, we may not be able to follow up on any questions you post as quickly as normal,” the statement read.

The Palace added that the pause in direct engagement is temporary and encouraged followers to continue enjoying the curated content shared online. “We hope you understand, and we look forward to sharing more of the Royal Collection with you next year,” the message continued.

The update comes as members of the royal family begin arriving at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where they traditionally spend the Christmas holidays together. The annual gathering is a long-standing royal custom, often drawing public interest.
