
US negotiators met Russian officials in Florida on Saturday in a fresh effort to resolve the ongoing war in Ukraine, with the Trump administration seeking a mutually acceptable agreement.
The Miami meeting followed US discussions on Friday with Ukrainian and European officials, focusing on a peace plan that has raised cautious optimism about resolving the conflict that started with Russia’s 2022 invasion.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev described the talks as constructive and confirmed they would continue on Sunday, emphasizing ongoing dialogue with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
While US, Ukrainian, and European officials reported progress on potential security guarantees for Kyiv, it remains unclear if Moscow will accept these terms, with no direct meetings scheduled between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed willingness to back a US proposal for trilateral talks involving national security advisers from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia, aiming to enhance prisoner exchanges and facilitate leadership meetings.
Despite these discussions, intelligence reports indicate Putin remains committed to capturing all of Ukraine, with Kyiv rejecting any territorial concessions. Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov said joint US-European efforts would continue to seek a workable solution.
