Karachi revises flour prices, notification issued by Commissioner’s Office

Published on: July 10, 2026 3:18 PM

The Karachi administration has officially revised flour prices across the city, with new rates taking immediate effect under a notification issued by the Commissioner’s Office. The updated price list replaces the rates announced on May 12 and reflects an increase in the wholesale and retail prices of several flour varieties.

According to the revised notification, the wholesale price of regular flour has increased from Rs110 to Rs122 per kilogram, while the retail price has risen from Rs113 to Rs125 per kilogram. The adjustment comes amid changing market conditions and is expected to affect household grocery expenses across the city.

The notification also announced an increase in the prices of fine flour. Its wholesale rate has been revised from Rs118 to Rs132 per kilogram, while the retail price has increased from Rs121 to Rs135 per kilogram. These revised prices are now applicable across Karachi and are intended to serve as the official benchmark for traders and retailers.

Despite the latest adjustments, the retail price of chakki flour has remained unchanged at Rs145 per kilogram. Officials said the decision to maintain the existing rate for chakki flour was taken after reviewing prevailing market trends and supply conditions.

The Commissioner of Karachi has directed all shopkeepers and flour dealers to prominently display the official price list at their business premises to ensure transparency for consumers. Authorities have also warned that strict legal action will be taken against retailers found overcharging customers or violating the notified rates.

The revised prices are expected to have an impact on household budgets, particularly for families that rely on flour as a staple food item. Consumers have expressed concern over the rising cost of essential commodities, while traders say the revised rates reflect increased procurement and operational costs.

The city administration has urged consumers to report any violations of the official price list, reaffirming its commitment to enforcing government-notified rates and ensuring fair market practices across Karachi.
