Russia shoots down 130 Ukrainian drones, Moscow flights hit

Published on: December 15, 2025 4:22 PM

MOSCOW – Russia said its air defence shot down 130 Ukrainian drones overnight, 15 targeting Moscow. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that four more drones were destroyed Monday morning, with emergency teams responding. Ukrainian drone attacks on the capital often disrupt airport operations.

Russia’s aviation watchdog, Rosaviatsia, said Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports suspended operations due to the attacks. Other southern Russian airports were also affected, creating travel delays across the region.

The southern Rostov region reported additional damage. Governor Yuri Slyusar said a power line was hit in the overnight drone strike. Infrastructure disruption adds to the challenge of maintaining normal services.

The attacks reflect Ukraine’s ongoing drone campaign against Russian cities. Moscow has repeatedly said its air defences are intercepting most threats before they can cause serious damage.

Officials emphasized emergency response readiness. Sobyanin reassured residents that authorities continue to monitor skies and secure critical infrastructure amid periodic drone incursions.
