Due to the ease in registration of cases, the number of registered cases has reached close to one million. In the first ten and a half months of the present year, 995,047 cases of various crimes were registered across the province.
Investigation of 83,721 cases of serious crimes across Punjab, including Lahore, has been transferred to the Crime Control Department.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating the police encounters in which 128 suspects were killed. The investigation of 68 cases registered against police officials and officials involved in corruption, tampering with official records and other crimes has been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Unit.
According to information shared with Daily Times, 100,916 cases have been dismissed from the different courts due to poor investigation.
Under Section-512, the number of unknown and incomplete challans shown in the police record is 15,846. There are unknown challans of 151,581 cases that are still incomplete, too, while 409,788 challans are concluded.
Moreover, 135,686 cases are unsolved due to incomplete addresses of the offenders, and 141,230 cases were still under investigation with the police department.
