PIA partners with Riyadh air to boost global cargo network

Published on: October 29, 2025 10:07 PM

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed a landmark cargo agreement with Saudi Arabia’s newly established airline, Riyadh Air, marking a major step toward expanding its global freight operations. The partnership, which officially takes effect from October 29, is expected to significantly enhance PIA’s cargo capacity and strengthen its presence in the international logistics market.

Under the new agreement, cargo shipments from Pakistan and London will be transported to Riyadh, where they will be distributed to various destinations through the combined network of both airlines. This collaboration aims to create a seamless cargo connectivity system, enabling faster and more efficient delivery services across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Both airlines will leverage their operational strengths to offer integrated logistics solutions to global customers.

PIA officials described the partnership as a strategic milestone in the airline’s efforts to modernize its business model and expand its revenue streams. With international cargo demand rising sharply in recent years, the agreement allows PIA to tap into new markets and compete more effectively with established regional carriers. The collaboration with Riyadh Air is also expected to help reduce operational costs and improve turnaround times for freight management.

Moreover, this move aligns with PIA’s broader business revival strategy, which focuses on innovation, global partnerships, and optimizing available resources to increase profitability. By joining hands with Riyadh Air—an emerging player in the Middle Eastern aviation sector—PIA aims to enhance customer satisfaction while creating long-term commercial opportunities in the cargo domain.

Industry experts believe that this agreement could play a crucial role in meeting the rapidly growing global demand for air cargo services. With increased trade activity and e-commerce growth worldwide, the aviation cargo sector continues to expand at a record pace. PIA’s decision to collaborate with Riyadh Air positions it to benefit from this momentum and reinforce Pakistan’s role as a key logistics hub between Asia, the Gulf, and Europe.

By establishing this partnership, both airlines have signalled their shared vision of strengthening regional connectivity and supporting global trade flows. The agreement underscores PIA’s commitment to modernization and international cooperation, setting the stage for new opportunities in aviation cargo and long-term business sustainability.
