Punjab launches first-ever environment WhatsApp chat box

Published on: October 11, 2025 2:13 AM

On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan’s first “Environment WhatsApp Chat Box” has officially been launched. The system will provide citizens with instant information about the environment, air quality, weather, and smog conditions.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb stated on the occasion that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, the Punjab government has introduced another modern technological innovation that will serve as a milestone in promoting environmental sustainability. She explained that the chat box will not only answer citizens’ questions related to the environment but also provide health protection advice.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that this chat box, developed using advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, will continuously update citizens about the Air Quality Index (AQI) and provide real-time news on weather and smog conditions. Before stepping outdoors, citizens can obtain prior information through this chat box to protect themselves from the effects of changing weather conditions.

She further informed that citizens can connect to the “Environment Chat Box” via WhatsApp at 0304-1373000. Through this service, users will receive guidance about their area’s air quality, environmental measures, and preventive precautions.

The Senior Provincial Minister emphasized that Punjab is the first and only province in the country effectively utilizing modern technology for promoting environmental protection, improving air quality, and raising public awareness. The Punjab government has already introduced environment-friendly machinery and established an advanced system for weather and smog monitoring and forecasting.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif congratulated the entire team on the successful development and launch of Pakistan’s first “Environment WhatsApp Chat Box”, stating that modern technology is a valuable gift from the Punjab government to improve citizens’ lives and the environment. She added, “Environmental protection is, in fact, human protection – every citizen must play their part in improving the quality of human life.”
