The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has denied media claims suggesting that party founder Imran Khan has forbidden his sons from visiting Pakistan. PTI Central Information Secretary Waqas Akram strongly rejected the reports, calling them “baseless” and “misleading.”
The clarification came after several media outlets reported that Khan, during a conversation at Adiala Jail, said his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, would not be visiting or participating in any protests. These claims stirred controversy, especially as PTI prepares for large-scale demonstrations on August 5 to demand Khan’s release.
Waqas Akram stated that Imran Khan has not stopped his sons from visiting Pakistan. “They will come—only the timing is undecided,” he added. He emphasized that the boys had already informed their father of their decision and were not seeking his approval, only keeping him updated.
The sons of Imran Khan reside in England with their mother, Jemima Goldsmith. Jemima has previously voiced concern over potential threats to her sons if they travel to Pakistan. Despite that, Khan’s family insists there is no restriction or disapproval from his side.
Imran Khan remains imprisoned at Adiala Jail since August 2023 in connection with a £190 million corruption case and several other charges under anti-terror laws. As PTI gears up for nationwide protests on August 5, the party has urged the media to report responsibly and avoid misquoting the jailed leader.
