Yemen’s Houthi group launched a ballistic missile targeting Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv on Tuesday. The Israeli military confirmed it intercepted the missile. Air raid sirens sounded across multiple Israeli regions, but no casualties or damage were reported. This missile attack escalates the ongoing tensions between the two sides in the region.
The missile launch came as retaliation for an Israeli air strike on Houthi targets at Yemen’s Hodeidah port on Monday. Israel said the strikes aimed to counter “Iran-backed threats” in the Red Sea area. Meanwhile, the Houthi spokesperson claimed they also attacked several targets in Israel using drones. These actions were in response to Israel’s military campaign against Gaza and the Hodeidah attack.
According to Houthi-run Al Masirah TV, a series of attacks continued at Hodeidah port. However, the channel did not provide further details about these strikes. The situation remains tense as both sides intensify their military responses. Israel remains on high alert for any additional threats from Yemen or other hostile groups in the region.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the military is “forcefully countering any attempt to restore the terror infrastructure previously attacked.” His statement shows Israel’s commitment to continue its campaign against perceived threats. This conflict forms part of a larger regional struggle involving multiple countries and groups.
The situation highlights the fragile security balance in the Middle East. The missile interception prevented potential casualties in Israel. However, the ongoing attacks risk escalating the conflict further. Both sides seem poised for continued military exchanges, increasing regional instability.
