A deadly traffic accident near Langer Sarai in Muzaffargarh on Saturday left six people dead and eighteen seriously injured. A passenger bus, heading from Jhang to Alipur, crashed into a trailer coming from the opposite direction. The collision was so intense that the front of the bus was completely destroyed.
Police confirmed the deceased include two men, two women, and two children. The bus driver also died on the spot due to the severe impact. Witnesses said the bus was over-speeding and lost control while trying to overtake another vehicle, which may have led to the crash.
Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene within minutes. They provided first aid to the injured and moved them to DHQ Hospital Muzaffargarh, where several are said to be in critical condition. Authorities feared the death toll might rise due to the seriousness of injuries.
District Traffic Officer, DSP, and SHO visited the site and monitored the rescue operation. Police said the road was cleared within a few hours to resume traffic. The wreckage of the bus and trailer was removed with the help of cranes.
Officials are now investigating the cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest poor visibility, reckless driving, or brake failure may have played a role. Authorities expressed grief over the loss of lives and promised full support to the affected families.
