LAHORE: The Punjab government has signed an agreement with the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust to handover management of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Bedian Road, to the latter. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest on the occasion. Under the agreement, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust will run the 60-bed THQ hospital situated on Bedian Road, while the Punjab government will provide assistance and facilities in this regard. Provincial Health Secretary Jawad Rafiq Malik and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust Chairman Mian Muhammad Ahsan signed the agreement. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the agreement is an important step towards provision of public health facilities to the local people.He said that state-of-the-art facilities will be made available at the THQ Hospital to provide modern health facilities to the people of the area. The hospital will be run on the lines of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital that is situated in Muzaffargarh. Shahbaz said that the Punjab government is spending billions of rupees on the development of health sector and provision of quality health facilities to the masses. He said that free treatment is being provided to people in government hospitals and massive resources are being utilised for this purpose. The chief minister said that a programme is being implemented for the improvement and reforms in the health sector. New hospitals have been constructed in the province while DHQ and THQ hospitals are being upgraded, he added. Adviser on Health Salman Rafiq, former MPA Rana Mubasher Iqbal, Talha Burki, Planning and Development chairman, secretaries of finance and information departments, Lahore commissioner and DCO, and representatives of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust were present on the occasion.Also, taking notice of the manhandling of a cart pusher by police in Chungi Amar Sadhu, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif sought a report from the Lahore CCPO. He ordered strict legal action against those involved and justice to the victim. He also took notice of the death of a six-year-old child who fell into a drain in Shadman and sought a report from the local administration besides ordering an inquiry into the incident. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of a woman and her two sons in a roof collapse incident in Purani Sabzi Mandi, Pakpattan. He offered sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family and ordered provision of best treatment facilities to the injured.
