ISLAMABAD – Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has so far received 14, 606 complains against fraud SMS scam offering cash in the name of the organisation and blocked 6136 sims.
An official of BISP said the phone numbers being used in the scam were identified with the assistance of telecom companies, Federal Investigation Agency, Ministries of Interior and Information and Broadcasting. These numbers were blocked and complete investigation has been initiated to nab the culprits behind this game, he told APP.
BISP is a project initiated to facilitate the poor segments of the society and those found involved in such a bad practice would be strictly punished according to the law, he said.
He said vigorous punishments would be announced for those who are found guilty so that others restrained from doing any such kind of practice in future.
