Parvez Elahi seeks one-day exemption from court appearance in money laundering case

Published on: July 15, 2026 12:04 PM

Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has filed an application seeking a one-day exemption from personal appearance in a money laundering case being heard by the Special Central Court in Lahore.

According to the application submitted through his counsel, Parvez Elahi is suffering from health issues and has been advised complete rest by his doctors. The plea requests the court to excuse his appearance for one hearing due to his medical condition.

The defence lawyer urged the court to accept the one-day exemption request, stating that the former chief minister is unable to attend the proceedings because of his illness.

The case is currently at the stage where the court has sought arguments from the defence on Parvez Elahi’s acquittal application. The hearing is expected to continue after the court considers the request for exemption from appearance.

Parvez Elahi is facing proceedings in a money laundering case, and his legal team is seeking his acquittal before the trial moves forward. The court will decide both the exemption plea and the acquittal application in accordance with the law.
