ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Panel on Foreign Affairs and Defence has expressed resentment over absence of PM’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz. A meeting of both the standing committees of National Assembly was held at Constitution Room of the Parliament House on Monday. In the meeting, Sartaj Aziz had to brief the parliamentarians on recent arrest of an Indian spy Kalbhushan Yadav from Balochistan. Sources said the meeting, co-chaired by Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Awais Khan Leghari and Defence Committee Chairman Rohail Asghar, showed concern over the “callous” attitude of the adviser. The members refused to take briefing from two additional secretaries of foreign affairs and defence, who came to debrief the committee regarding Indian spy’s arrest, added sources. The participants of the meeting said that the bureaucrats even foreign affairs and defence secretaries refused to attend the meeting. “The meeting would be a farce in the adviser’s absence who could explain government position on this very sensitive issue,” a member of the meeting told Daily Times, requesting anonymity.
