LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shahid Karim on Wednesday reserved the verdict on a petition against the opposition’s alleged interference in terms of reference (TOR) for investigation of Panama leaks issue. Petitioner’s counsel A K Dogar said that the Supreme Court had already directed the government to constitute a parliamentary committee on the issue of Panama leaks and the government was seriously engaged in preparing the ToRs. He alleged that the opposition was trying to sabotage the government’s sincere efforts. He said that the PM had already announced to form a ‘judicial commission’, which would be headed by a retired judge so that the ‘accusers’ could prove the allegations. He said that the government had been directed to form a tribunal and ToRs under the Inquiry Commission Act, while the opposition had also been directed to stop interfering in ToRs, so that Panama leaks investigation could be saved from being controversial and legal action could be taken against the real culprits. He requested the court to retrain the opposition parties from causing hindrance in the inquiry of Panama leaks.
