A US Navy air base in Corpus Christi, Texas is on lockdown after an active shooter incident at the facility. Soon after the alarm was raised, officials said the shooter had been “neutralized.” Naval Security Forces at the Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi responded to an active shooter at 6:15 a.m. local time, according to a post on their Facebook page. One security force member was injured, although there were no details on the severity of the injuries. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi sent a message to students saying the situation at the base is resolved and there is no threat to the Island Campus. “All gates on the installation remain closed while first responders process the scene,” the Navy said. “NCIS is en route, and state and local law enforcement are on scene.” The FBI also responded to the incident and is assisting in the investigation, according to a spokeswoman for the bureau’s field office in Houston. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Houston’s office of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and local law enforcement were offering assistance.
