LAHORE: The top provincial bureaucracy, on the instructions of a minister, has been active in bringing back a lady officer, who was discarded from the Punjab Auqaf Department despite the fact that she was in the good books of the minister. Lady officer Nusrat Jabeen was posted at the Government Education Centre, Patoki, as senior special education teacher in BPS-17. In 2014, she was transferred to Punjab Auqaf Department in Lahore against the post of assistant director (training) on deputation. She succeeded to develop good relations with a minister due to which she was promoted to the rank of deputy director (estate). Meanwhile, the zonal administrator in Lahore got the message from the Auqaf director (estate) that some influential people were trying to grab plots number 34-E and 4-C at the vicinity of Bagrian, Lahore. Both plots were possessed by the Auqaf Department. Zonal Administrator Lahore Waqas Mansoor reached at spot along with officials and demolished the boundary walls, which were constructed by the land grabbers. After the operation, the zonal administrator along with his four subordinates went to the Green Town Police Station to register a case against land grabbers, but the police instead took them all under custody. They were astonished to note that Auqaf Department’s rent clerk Umer Khayam and security guard Muhammad Mukhtar were already in the lockup. However, on the intervention of the administration director, they were released. Police told them that they were arrested on the orders of Deputy Director Nusrat Jabeen, as they conducted operation against the powerful land grabbers and retrieved both the plots from the clutches of land mafia. On the revelation of this entire saga, a committee was constituted under the supervision of Punjab additional secretary to probe the matter. Meanwhile, the Auqaf employees, in collaboration with All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), started protesting against Deputy Director Nusrat Jabeen, demanding her termination. The investigation committee held Nusrat responsible and issued instructions for her transfer to the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD). Nusrat showed great resentment on this but left the department on the orders of the Auqaf secretary. Now the said minister, who was supporting Nusrat, wants her return to the Auqaf Department and in order to please the minister, bureaucracy has already stared efforts to restore the corrupt deputy director to her previous post.
