Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s tradition and Sunnah foods

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) used to like some foods very much and generally ate them with fervour like olives, cinnamon, pomegranates, honey, figs, dates and milk.

Medical science has proved all these foods are full of vitamins, energy and power of resistance to fight with germs to stay away from diseases and keeps physically and mentally fit. Let’s see which food is good for what.

Olives are one of the world’s most widely enjoyed foods. They protect against colon, breast and skin cancer. Olive oil is very good for healthy heart. Eating olive boost iron intake and provide protection against ulcers. Olive has strong anti-inflammatory properties mimicking the action of ibuprofen. Olive oil naturally reduces the pain of chronic inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and can be added to a daily diet to aid in pain reduction. Olive oil is recommended to treat constipation, high cholesterol and blood pressure, blood vessels problems associated with diabetes, and pain associated ear infections, arthritis, and gallbladder disease. Olive oil is also used to treat jaundice, internal gas, and swelling of the abdomen due to gas.

Cinnamon is a powerful spice which has been used manically around the globe for thousands of years. Cinnamon regulates blood pressure and lowers cholesterol. It is a natural repellent and possesses anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant proprieties. Cinnamon is useful in the treatment of eye disorders including conjunctive and dry eye.

Pomegranates are among the healthiest fruits on earth and what makes them special is that apart from being healthy, they are delicious too. Pomegranate juice contains higher levels of anti-oxidant; which help remove free radicals, protect cells from damage, prevent cancerous growth, improves digestion and reduce blood pressure and inflammation. Pomegranate juice is a great source of potassium and vitamin C, E & K. Pomegranate juice protects heart and arteries. Pomegranate have also been shown to be antibacterial and antiviral in lab test.

Honey is sweet liquid made by bees using the nectar from flowers. It is a great natural source of carbohydrates which provide strength and energy to our bodies. Honey is known for kits effectiveness in instantly boosting performance, endurance and reduce muscular fatigue. Honey is a versatile ingredient with a range of medicinal uses. Honey energise our body, boost immunity, fights bacteria, promotes healing of cuts and burns, remedies sore throats and colds. Its antiseptic prosperities inhibit the growth of certain bacteria and helps external wounds clean and free from infection.

A great source of fibre and full of vitamins and minerals. FIGS are often recommended to nourish and tone the intestines and act as a natural laxative because of their high fibre content. Fresh figs, naturally increases potassium and is therefore encouraged to help lower blood pressure. Naturally high in dietary fibre, FIGS can be a useful food to include in the diet for those watching their weight. Figs are a good fruit source of calcium, a mineral that is involved in bone density. Their high potassium content may counteract the urinary excretion of calcium cause high salt diets. This in turn helps to keep calcium in bones and lessens the risk of osteoporosis.

Dates are full of zinc which is specifically good for men besides helps eradicating lukewarm from abdomen of kids as well as equally good for adults if are taken before bed tea.

Milk is full of vitamins and calcium which plays a pivotal role in cherishing of toddlers and essential part for all ages. Goat milk is specifically keeps the person young at all ages. Once beloved Prophet SAW did not eat for too long and fellows notion that Prophet SAW was from fasting. Just to check it whether Prophet was from fasting or not, one of fellow presented a glass of milk which was kept by Prophet SAW as he never forbad milk to drink.

A person would likely be safe from diseases if these foods are consumed regularly, which is Sunnah. Let us act according to Sunnah not in terms of food only but in all respects whether it’s ethics, worship, politics, etc.
