Two women have been charged after an online dispute about coronavirus in a mothers’ group chat spilled onto a Sydney street. The women were having an online “discussion” last Tuesday before they agreed to meet in person to take the matter further, according to police. “The women met at Brookvale and shortly after it is alleged a physical fight ensued,” NSW Police said in a statement on Monday. “Two other women from the group chat had also attended the location and attempted to separate the pair.” But despite those efforts the women – aged 36 and 33 – were taken to Northern Beaches Hospital. The older woman suffered head, shoulder and arm injuries while the younger woman was treated for a sore shoulder and other injuries. They were charged on Sunday with affray and are due to face Manly Local Court in late March. NSW Police last week said on Facebook the dispute had quickly escalated from insults to “pushing, slapping and hair-pulling”.
