LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has always given priority to national interests and completed uplift projects within stipulated time frame. Talking to MNA Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, who called on the chief minister here on Saturday, Shahbaz said that political stability was necessary for progress and prosperity in the country but some politicians wanted to create instability for their personal gains. He said that politicians spreading unrest for personal benefits were committing enmity to the country and the nation, and added that in the current situation, the country could not afford any confrontation. He said that new records of public service were being set under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and added that speed and quality had been ensured in all projects. He said that conscious people of Pakistan would not allow anybody to hinder development process in the country. Meanwhile, the chief minister has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of renowned industrialist and former Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI) president Sheikh Muhammad Arshad. In a condolence message, the chief minister expressed sympathies and condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He said that Sheikh Muhammad Arshad had always struggled for the respect of traders’ community. Separately, the chief minister received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who reached Islamabad on an official visit on Saturday. The chief minister said that the visit of the Chinese foreign minister would strengthen Pak-China ties. Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Sun Weidong, Punjab Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, chief secretary and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
