Police refuse to help CDA in anti-encroachment campaign

ISLAMABAD: The district administration and the federal police have refused to provide assistance to the CDA for eradicating illegal occupation of public properties.

As per details, the Chairman CDA and the Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz, has directed the director enforcement to continue the operation against the encroachment mafia without the assistance of the federal police and the district administration.

The CDA has written many letters to the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General of Police and the SSP Operations, to seek assistance and cooperation but the district administration and federal police did not respond to any of them.

Afterwards, the Chairman CDA Sheikh Ansar Aziz and member administration, Suleman Khan Warriach, with mutual consultation have issued directions to each Chairman of Union Council (UC) to conduct an operation clean-up against encroachments under the supervision of the enforcement department.

On Monday, Director Enforcement Ishrat Abbasi, Assistant Director Adalat Shah, Assistant Director Ramzan, Assistant Director Zeeshan started an operation clean-up against encroachments in Sabzi Mandi in the presence of the Chairman UC, Farman Mughal, as the encroachment mafia have resisted and subjected one inspector to torture including three staff members of the encroachment department and seriously injured them.

The encroachment mafia also pelted stones on the staff members of the anti-encroachment department but the staff members continued the operation boldly and took into custody the push carts over two hundred installed with the assistance of local extortionists and shifted them to the department of the DMA.

Suleman Butt, Member Admn of the civic agency talking to “Online” said: “We are determined to make the city beautiful as per the directions of the Chairman CDA Sheikh Ansar Aziz”. He reiterated his resolve to continue the work for the beautification of the city whether the federal police and district administration cooperated with the civic agency or not. “We would take severe action against illegal makeshifts owners,” he said.

He added that three workers of the civic agency were severely tortured by the encroachment mafia and “We have lodged an application at the Police Station Sabzi Mandi to seek justice,” he added. “Operation against encroachments would be conducted at every UC under the supervision of its chairman”, he concluded.
