
The Punjab government is set to present a Rs5,131 billion budget for fiscal year 2026-27. The plan prioritizes health, education, social welfare, and development spending. The budget will directly impact public services, employees, and welfare programmes across the province.
According to official sources, total expenditure is estimated at Rs3,569.6 billion for the next fiscal year. Meanwhile, Rs580.2 billion has been allocated for operational expenses. In addition, salary adjustments for government employees will follow the federal government’s decision.
Moreover, Rs650 billion has been proposed for salaries, while Rs505.8 billion is allocated for pensions. Labour wages are also expected to increase under the new financial plan. These allocations aim to support public sector workers amid rising economic pressures.
Furthermore, the health sector has been allocated Rs680 billion, including Rs100 billion for free medicines. Education receives more than Rs900 billion with scholarships and student welfare schemes included. Development spending remains a major priority under ongoing provincial projects.
In addition, welfare programmes such as the Kisan Card, Himmat Card, and Minority Card will continue in the new budget. The government has also proposed Rs150 billion for Suthra Punjab and Rs35 billion for Ramazan Package. Officials say the budget reflects a strong focus on public welfare and sustainable development.
