Paris put its best face on for the menswear Spring/Summer 2020 shows on Wednesday, with brands such as Valentino and JW Anderson championing a chic, elegant and at times theatrical take on catwalk beauty. There was plenty of drama on the runway, provided in part by Belgian fashion designer Walter van Beirendonck, whose artistic beauty look featured primary colours painted on to the hair and face in blocky, abstract shapes and stripes. Acne Studios, too, put on a glamorous display, with the models teaming their moody bangs with clumps of colourful eyelashes and statement brows. Y/Project also tapped into the glossy trend, championing a subtle dab of shimmering eye shadow at the inner corners of the eyes. At JW Anderson and Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Valentino, the look was even more low key, with the models sporting clean-scrubbed faces and natural-looking hair Things were toned down a notch at Off-White, where the coed models’ dewy beauty look focused on wet-look hair and shiny skin, shot through with a flash of red lipstick.
