Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday informed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) that he could not appear before it on May 17 to record his statement.
Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Law and Anticorruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had received a letter from NAB on May 13, 2019, asking him to appear before the bureau on May 17.
Wahab said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had now written a letter to NAB, informing them that he could not appear before the NAB team to record his statement due to his personal engagements. “In the letter, Bilawal Bhutto has asked NAB to give another date for the hearing,” he said.
Murtaza Wahab also strongly condemned the federal government for not providing funds to the National Disaster Management Authority for relief work in the drought-affected areas of Sindh and Balochistan. “This attitude exposes PM Imran Khan’s cruelty. Is this his love for the people of Pakistan? If the federal government can help the people of Afghanistan and Iran, why has it left its own people helpless in the hour of need? This is a huge question mark on the performance of the federal government,” he said. He said that the federal government’s decision not to provide funds for the drought-affected people of Sindh and Balochistan was its biggest failure. “Prime Minister Imran Khan does nothing for the poor people of Pakistan. He always tries to play politics on human issues,” he said.
Wahab said that a committee of the Sindh Assembly had passed the new police law. “Suggestions of opposition parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Grand Democratic Alliance have been accepted by the government,” he said.
