LAHORE: Newly appointed Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Zaffar Moeen Nasar Monday called on Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, here at the HEC Secretariat. Dr Mukhtar Ahmed welcomed the newly appointed vice chancellor and congratulated him on joining the one of the leading and oldest institutions of higher education of the country as its head. He hoped that the university, under his leadership, would further develop in academics and research. He assured the VC of his all-out support in this regard. The chairman said that the HEC had over the years not only increased budget for research but had also assured that faculty members and researchers focus on priority areas related to the society and country’s economic challenges. “The HEC is committed to ensuring equitable access to higher education without any compromise on quality,” he said. The vice chancellor appreciated the promotion of higher education in Pakistan over the last decade and the role played by the HEC during these years. Dr Zaffar Moeen Nasar did his PhD from Kansas State University in Economics. He has over 33 years of experience in research, education, teaching and education management.
