Islamabad High Court (IHC), on Friday, summoned all parties in a case with reference to the appointment of acting Managing Director (MD) of the state television (PTV). During the hearing, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani questioned whether this issue hadn’t been solved yet. To this, Advocate Ali Nawaz Kharal responded that an acting MD was currently looking after the corporation’s affairs. The court then inquired how could a board member appoint himself as an MD and issued notices to secretary information, MD PTV, and board of director’s(BOD) members. A day earlier, the appointment of Muhammad Arshad as PTV’s acting MD was challenged in IHC where the federal government and BOD were made respondents in the petition. The petitioner, PTV Employees Union Secretary General, Pervez Akhter, had briefed the court that Muhammad Arshad had not been appointed on merit, and therefore, the court should declare his appointment null and void.
