ISLAMABAD: Addressing a National Assembly session on Wednesday, Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif claimed that NAB and the PTI government were working closely to target opposition leaders. Shehbaz was produced in the house on orders of National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. Upon his turn to speak, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president slammed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Prime Minister Imran Khan. “NAB and PTI are working together to target opposition leaders, especially from the PML-N. It is the first time in the country’s history that an opposition leader was taken into custody without any accusations,” Shehbaz said. He also said PM Khan was made the premier via rigging. Continuing his tirade against the government and NAB, Shehbaz said that his arrest, a few days before by-elections, was a conspiracy against PML-N. “By arresting me days before the by-elections, they tried to influence the elections. But PML-N’s performance in the by-polls shows how the public has grown tired of the ruling government and its policies within 2 months.” He continued that by-elections results also reveal that the General Elections 2018 were rigged. “How can a party which formed government in July lose in October? This means either the general elections were rigged or the by-elections were.”
