The waves, they are my days, They can either take me for a light ride, To feel the breeze, Or hit me too hard, And turn into a disaster, The sand is my heart, It can be toyed with and misplaced But as the sun rises, It finds its way back on its own The boats are the people, They come and go, Ships, to scare, Boats, to care, They always leave, though Either it’s me, who pushes them afar, Or them who choose another destination, The trees are my laughter, They are the spark inside, When the waves give the breeze, Strong or light, They always top it off with a smile The sun, is my mentor It shows me paths, and gives me choices, It shines bright Enough to show me the reality, The stars up there, are my friends, They give me something, When my left and my right is blank The moon is my hope When I cannot find the sand, When i cannot believe, In the dark, And, I am the water, Vast and endless, Giving, and selfless, Powerful and unpredictable Published in Daily Times, September 8th 2018.
