KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Wednesday announced that he will not be taking part in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) due to a knee-injury.
Taking to Twitter earlier today, Afridi made the announcement saying that he will ‘miss out on this year’s biggest party in the sport’.
Due to my knee rehab I’ll have to sadly miss out this year’s #BiggestPartyInSport with the @JAMTallawahs
I’ll be cheering for the team from home and I’m sure @simadwasim will fill up for me #CPL18 #DreamBIGwidTallawahs https://t.co/zJ6C8mI22A— Shahid Afridi (@SAfridiOfficial) August 8, 2018
Earlier this year, Afridi announced that he would be representing Jamaica Tallawahs and that he has signed a contract for 2 years.

However, he would not be able to accompany all-rounder Imad Wasim, who also represents the same team, this season.
‘Boom Boom’ Afridi added that he would support the Tallawahs and is sure that Imad Wasim will fill his void.
