LARKANA: The Population Welfare Department (PWD) on Wednesday marked the World Population Day and notified of the devastating consequences of increasing population of Pakistan. “Primary reason of hunger, unemployment, poverty and ailments is the unchecked growth of population around the world. Currently, Pakistan’s population is 22 crore, which is expected to increase to 40 crore by the year 2050,” the PWD representatives including Dr Abdul Wahid Tagar, Dr Saeed Ahmed Memon and Abdul Karim Mangi observed. “About 20 years ago, Pakistan stood at ninth position in the world countries list by population, and now the country has maintained sixth position,” they warned.
