Over repeatedly violating the publicity code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 22 candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, Tehreek Labbaik and independent candidates were served with show cause notices by the district administration on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Lahore and District Monitoring Officer Lahore Captain (r) Anwarul Haq has issued the show cause notices for displaying unspecified and unapproved banners, streamers, flexes and billboards in their own different parts of the Provincial and National constituencies. He also asked candidates to submit their reply within a day as to why action is not taken against them. These show cause notices have been served under section 234 of the Election Act-2017 to five candidates of National Assembly and 17 candidates of Punjab Assembly. According to a copy of show cause notices, monitoring officer of the respective constituency in the report that submitted to DMO, claimed that candidates displayed over sized panaflexes and other advertisement products. By this act, candidates prima facie have violated Para 23 & 26 prescribed in Part ‘C’ of Code of Conduct framed under section 233 of election Act-2017. Out of 22 candidates, the candidates, who were served with show cause notices include Ayaz Sadiq NA 129, Rana Masood PP 152, Arshad Dogar PP 152, Malik Karamat Ali Khokhar NA 135, Aleem khan PP162, Akhtar Hussain PP166, Rana Bakthiar Ahmed PP 171, Malik Afzal Khokhar NA 136, Asghar Butt PP 147, Khawaja Suleman Rafique PP 157, Malik Sarfaraz Khokhar PP 157, Hammad Azhar NA 126, Munawar Zaman PP 152, Chaudhry Asif Nagra PP 152, Mian Iftikhar PP 156, Yousaf Mayo PP 165, Ramzan Siddique PP 166, Shoaib Siddique PP157, Malik Karamat Ali Khokhar NA 135, Abdul Nadeem PP 162, Muhammad Ameerul Azeem PP 161 and Tariq Sadat PP 147.
