Sir: A while ago, I heard someone say that democracy is the best revenge. However, I don’t think this is valid for Pakistan. Democracy has a long way to go before revenge becomes something real. We are still waiting to see what real democracy looks like. The country has remained a hub of controversies, disturbances, and disorders. We have a high crime rate combined with political interference. Democracy has not had a chance to do all that it can. There are tons of other problems prominent in the country. However, the upcoming election is once again being seen as a ray of hope. In order for democracy to work for Pakistan, it is important that the law and order situation of the country improves. The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has said that elections will be held on time and be free and fair. I hope that we go ahead with the ballot on July 25, but more than that, I hope that this time we can let democracy breathe and do what it is meant to.
