Sir: Verinder Grover (editor) in his book ‘Encyclopaedia of International Terrorism’ points out terrorism is an amalgamation of violence and political agenda. Most terrorist incidents are focused on media projection and glorification of their cause, not the actual kill-count. Unfortunately, our media sometimes fails to maintain the delicate balance between need to expose truth and exploitation of giving publicity to terrorists. Media reports uncannily expose prosecution strategy or provide lines of defence to criminals. For instance the person who shot at the interior minister is likely to plead he is insane. Reporting is a difficult task. But our media should strike a balance between various constraints. AJ MALIK Rawalpindi Published in Daily Times, May 14th 2018.
