LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has closed down another 220 fake treatment centres of quacks during the last two days. According to details, a few first information reports (FIRs) were also registered against these quacks. The PHC teams had visited 713 treatment centres and closed down 220 businesses being run by quacks. Out of the total centres visited in accordance with the census, 291 were found to be doing other businesses now. The crackdown was carried out in different areas of 13 districts which included Toba Tek Singh, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Mandi Bahauddin, Bhakkar, Rawalpindi and Lahore. The PHC teams were accompanied by officials of the district administration and police. It is pertinent to mention that since the orders of the Supreme Court, the PHC teams had sealed 1,150 businesses of quacks and visited 3,142 centres in its crackdown carried out in different districts of the province.
