ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition and veteran politician Khursheed Shah labelled Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution—clauses responsible for the dismissal of both former premier Nawaz Sharif and incumbent foreign minister Khawaja Asif—as ‘black laws’, and claimed that no politician was happy with the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to disqualify Khawaja Asif. The PPP leader also said that the shadow of Ziaul Haq’s politics had spared no one, including his children. Addressing Asif’s disqualification, Mr Shah said, “It would have been better had the issue been resolved in Parliament.” Khawaja Asif was dismissed on Thursday by the Islamabad High Court under Article 62 (1)(f) on account of his failure to disclose the United Arab Emirates’ ‘iqama’ (work permit) he possessed. Opposition leader Khursheed Shah also addressed the upcoming budget and claimed that the government should not present a budget of more than four months. He also blamed the present government for ‘starting a new tradition of presenting the budget for the entire year.’
