British food for dinner, anyone?

Chocolate Fudge

Ingredients

One and a half pint of milk or two tins of large ideal milk, 32 ounces unsweetened

A pound of milk mixture

A tin cream

Four ounces of butter

Vanilla

Tow tablespoonfuls of cocoa

Method – take a large saucepan. Pour into it milk, cream, butter and sugar. Boil this mixture until it thickens. Stir at intervals.

Take cocoa, and after putting a mixture of milk, stir it, until it dissolves. Pour it into the milk. Keep on stirring till it completely thickens. All this requires two hours.

Take a plate, spread some butter on it, and pour the chocolate into it and press with butter paper to make smooth. After it is cooled, cut into small pieces.

Fish & Chips

Ingredients

Three large potatoes, peeled and cut into strips

A cup of all purpose flour

A teaspoon of baking powder

A teaspoon of salt

A teaspoon of black pepper

A cup of milk

An egg

Oil for frying

One and half pound of salmon fillets

Method – place potatoes in a medium-size bowl of cold water. In a separate medium-size mixing bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the milk and egg; stir until the mixture is smooth. Let mixture stand for 20 minutes.

Preheat the oil in a large wok.

Fry the potatoes in the hot oil until they are tender. Drain them on paper towels.

Dredge the fish in the batter, one piece at a time, and place them in the hot oil. Fry until the fish is golden brown. Drain well on paper towels.

Sprinkle salt and vinegar on the fish and chips according to taste.

Meat & Cheese Burger

Ingredients

A pound minced beef/mutton

An egg

A tablespoon of ginger/garlic paste

A tablespoon of steak sauce

An onion

A tomato

Three leaves of lettuce

Two slices of cheese

Three tablespoons of mayonnaise

Method – preheat a grill on high heat.

In a medium bowl, mix together the minced beef/mutton, egg, garlic/ginger paste and onion. Mix in steak sauce until mixture is sticky feeling. Form into three or four balls, and flatten into patties.

Grill for about 10 minutes, turning once, or to your desired degree of doneness.

Spread the mayonnaise on the bun.

Place slices of tomatoes, lettuce and cheese on the bun.

Place the pattie on the trimmings and form into a burger.
