LAHORE: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that politics of welfare is the only kind of politics that will be acceptable to the public, adding that the PML-N managed to move forward its development agenda despite impediments created by opponents. The CM expressed these views while talking to a delegation of elected representatives. He said while his party kept working for public welfare, the ‘sit-in group’ remained busy in ‘negative politics of allegations and falsehood’. “The people are totally fed up with them. These elements were defeated in the elections of 2013 and will meet the same fate in 2018 as well. The elements engaged in politics of baseless allegations and falsehood have inflicted damage to the national interest. These elements have prioritised their personal interests and the nation will fully reject them in the next elections. The people will give their votes to those doing the politics of public service, honesty and trust,” he said. He said that his party inherited the economy in a poor state, but it worked to restore it with solid and transparent economic policies. “Our government has completed record number of projects of public interest by better use of national resources. The credit of industrial development and strengthening of economy goes to the PML-N government,” he said. “Pakistan is much more secure, prosperous and economically viable of today than in the past,” he said, adding that the mission of bringing improvements in the lives of the people would be fulfilled and the PML-N led government would continue to selflessly serve the masses. Sharif pointed out that different steps taken for public welfare and prosperity have yielded positive steps. “Meanwhile, those impeding the journey of national development and prosperity have remained unable to fulfill their desires.” He said the groups propagating disappointment in the people have become a victim of their negative designs. “These elements continuously wasted time of the people and made efforts to obstruct the journey of development. The people will again reject these elements in the next elections and their negative politics will be defeated in the general elections.” He said that elements leveling baseless allegations were playing with the future of the country and they will be held accountable for their negative tactics. “Zardari and Niazi are two sides of the same coin. One ruined the KPK while other devastated Karachi and the rest of Sindh. Those who obstructed the journey of development through sit-ins, chaos and agitation have decieved the nation.” “These elements are the emblem of negative politics of dishonesty and lies. They have no interest in solving the problems of the people,” he added. “In fact, these elements always strived to increase the problems and difficulties of the people.
