LONDON: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday held a meeting with former PM Nawaz Sharif in London to discuss matters concerning the caretaker government and the general elections 2018.
Talking to the reporters after meeting with PML-N lifetime president Nawaz Sharif, sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz and other party leaders, PM Abbasi said that party would not only contest the upcoming elections but triumph too.
The premier added that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believes in the sanctity of vote and considers ‘give respect to vote’ the main party slogan.
PM Abbasi continued that Nawaz belongs to Pakistan and that he will return sooner or later, while he also added that the decision to instate a caretaker setup will only be taken after discussion with the opposition leader in the national assembly.
On the other hand, former PM Nawaz Sharif confirmed that he would return to the country and present himself before the courts in various cases.
“I am not like Pervaiz Musharraf and I will return to Pakistan,” Nawaz said.
The former premier is currently in London to visit ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz, whose condition deteriorated last week.
