Bollywood superstar Jacqueline Fernandez opens her own restaurant in Sri Lanka

Published on: December 18, 2017 4:12 AM

Model-turned-actress Jacqueline Fernandez is bringing celebrity glamour to her native Sri Lanka. The leggy beauty, who has starred in a number of Bollywood flicks, has joined the ranks of a number of B-Town celebrities, including Shilpa Shetty-Kundra and Govinda, who have entered the culinary space and opened restaurants.

The ‘Judwa 2’ star’s first-ever restaurant recently opened its doors in Colombo’s newest five-star hotel, Shangri-La Hotel. It is only fitting that the sizzling siren names the eatery Kaema Sutra. While work on the restaurant has been going on for some time now, the menu is a collaborative effort between Jacqueline Fernandez and Sri Lankan celebrity chef Dharshan Munidasa. THE CHEF HAS HELMED TWO OF ASIA’S BEST RESTAURANTS — Nihonbashi and The Ministry of Crab.

Going by the images shared on Darshan Munidasa’s Instagram page, the restaurant’s decor has incorporated the popular Sri Lankan masks, which are both iconic and unmatched. The minimalist restaurant decor paves the way for an array of authentic Sri Lankan fare—dominated by fish and seafood dishes, which are an important part of Sri Lankan cuisine and Munidasa’s area of expertise. From Banana Leaf Barramundi to a variety of Sambols, Kaema Sutra sure knows how to put on a show with a Sri Lankan feast.

SIDE NOTE — a little birdie informed that Fernandez is all set to launch a new restaurant in Mumbai soon.

Indeed, Fernandez has added another feather to her cap. After establishing a successful career in the Indian film industry with films like ‘Kick’ and ‘Houseful 3’ to name a few, the actress has now laid her hands in the hotel industry.

The actress took to social media to share the news.

She shared the picture and captioned it, “So excited to announce my first restaurant Kaema Sutra with Dharshan Munidasa is now open in the brand new Shangri-La Colombo bringing you the yummiest Sri Lankan cuisine. See you there.”

The Kaema Sutra restaurant will serve Sri Lankan cuisine. On the work front, Fernandez has two films in her kitty ‘Drive’ and ‘Race 3’. Directed by filmmaker and writer Tarun Mansukhani, ‘Drive’ also stars Sushant Singh Rajput and ‘Race 3’ features Salman Khan, Saqib Salim, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah and Anil Kapoor.
