Athletes honoured for outstanding performance in local championship

District Sports Office Multan on Monday organised a ceremony at the E-Library Auditorium to honour medal-winning athletes who delivered an impressive performance in the Inter-District Athletics Championship held under the auspices of Sports Department Multan Division. District Sports Officer Multan Adnan Naeem and CEO Mix IT Links Muhammad Zahid Akbar attended the ceremony as chief guests. Assistant Librarian Waqar Ahmad, Madam Saba Habib, Madam Nausheen and coach Rana Habib were also present on the occasion.

The championship, organised as part of Youth Year 2026 activities at Khanewal Sports Stadium, witnessed remarkable performances by athletes from Multan district. Both boys and girls secured several gold medals, helping Multan emerge as the winning district in the competition.

The athletes honoured at the ceremony included Areeba Murtaza, Hadiya Batool, Alizey Hassan, Samina Iqbal, Lareeb Nawaz, Madiha Qasim, Qurrat-ul-Ain, Nadia Rafiq, Aqsa Iqbal, Nazeer Haider, Aqib Sultan, Azam Ali, Ramzan Nadeem, Sajid Muhammad Yaseen and Abdul Manan. Prizes and appreciation awards were distributed among the athletes in recognition of their achievements.

Speaking on the occasion, District Sports Officer Adnan Naeem said that athletes of Multan district were blessed with natural talent and it was the responsibility of the department to provide them with the best possible environment to develop their abilities. He said the Sports and Youth Affairs Department was working actively to promote sports and nurture emerging talent across the region.

Expressing confidence in the players, he hoped that Multan’s athletes would continue their excellent form and deliver strong performances in the upcoming inter-division championship, bringing further glory to the district.
