Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said Pakistan supports free and uninterrupted passage through the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that no tolls, service fees, or restrictions should be imposed on shipping traffic. The statement underscores Pakistan’s stance on safeguarding global energy and trade routes.
Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya, Dar confirmed that maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz remains stable. He said vessels continue to move in both directions without disruption. He added that trade flow is essential for regional and global economic stability.
Dar also highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating US-Iran diplomatic engagement. He said Islamabad remained actively involved even when negotiations faced setbacks. He credited leadership across Pakistan’s civilian and military institutions for sustaining dialogue efforts.
The foreign minister claimed that external attempts were made to derail the agreement process. He pointed to regional tensions and said certain strikes risked disrupting diplomatic progress. He urged the international community to support restraint and avoid escalation.
Dar further said Pakistan had received support from several regional and global partners during mediation efforts. He noted that sustained dialogue remained the only viable path to resolving the crisis. He added that negotiations are expected to continue under a structured timeline leading toward a broader agreement.
