The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has confirmed that no loss of life or property was reported after earthquake tremors were felt across several parts of the province. The update is important as it provides official clarification following widespread public concern.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, tremors were felt in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Multan, and other districts of Punjab. The quake also affected the Pothohar region and surrounding areas, prompting people to briefly panic and move outdoors.
Officials said the earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was located in the Hindu Kush region, while the depth was recorded at 215 kilometres. The deep origin of the quake reduced its destructive impact across Punjab.
The PDMA confirmed that no casualties or structural damage have been reported so far. However, district administrations have been instructed to inspect buildings and monitor any potential aftereffects. Emergency control rooms across the province remain fully operational.
Authorities urged citizens to report any damage or emergency situations through the PDMA helpline. They also advised the public to remain calm and follow safety guidelines during seismic activity.
