PM Shehbaz, Swiss VP discuss bilateral, global issues

Ignazio Cassis, Vice President and Foreign Minister of Switzerland called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on the side lines of the ongoing technical level talks between USA and Iran at Burgenstock, Switzerland and discussed bilateral and international issues. The Swiss Foreign Minister appreciated the mediation role played by Pakistan that steered the negotiation process leading to the signing of the Islamabad MoU between Iran and United States. He also expressed their willingness to contribute and assist the follow up process. The Prime Minister thanked the Swiss side and affirmed that successful implementation of Islamabad MoU will lead to regional peace and global economic stability. On his part, the Prime Minister appreciated the sustained Swiss investment in Pakistan and hoped that Swiss companies would further enhance their investments in Pakistan. He also offered Pakistan’s assistance of highly skilled IT/cyber security experts to fulfil the growing demand of Switzerland in these sectors. Additionally the two sides discussed the possibility of enhancing cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors of pharmaceuticals, tourism and climate change /disaster risk reduction. Prime Minister Sharif also extended invitation to the Swiss Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan at mutually convenient dates.
