The new subscription-based service is aimed at users who want greater control over their experience on the platform and access to tools that are not available in the standard free version. Meta emphasized that Instagram will continue to remain free for all users, with Instagram Plus serving as an optional upgrade.
A major focus of the subscription service is providing enhanced creative and customization tools. Among the most notable additions is the extension of Instagram Stories, allowing them to remain visible for 48 hours instead of the standard 24-hour period.
The service also introduces Story Spotlight, a feature that gives users additional ways to highlight stories for friends and followers. Subscribers will be able to send animated reactions and access new personalization options intended to make interactions on the platform more engaging.
Instagram Plus also includes advanced analytics and viewing tools. These features are designed to help creators and active users gain deeper insights into audience engagement and content performance. The company said subscribers will receive more detailed information about how their content is being viewed and interacted with.
Another privacy-focused feature allows users to view stories without notifying the account owner, giving subscribers more flexibility in how they browse content on the platform.
According to Meta, Instagram Plus was first introduced as a trial service in May 2026. Following the testing phase, the company has now expanded the offering globally, making it available to users in multiple markets.
