On 26 April, the Pakistan Army Aviation conducted a series of operational landing and take-off trials at the airport. Officials confirmed that these tests were carried out to evaluate runway performance and ensure that all operational and safety requirements were met before resuming regular use.
Sources stated that a total of six successful landing and take-off trials were completed during the exercise. These trials were aimed at assessing the structural integrity of the runway, navigational readiness, and overall operational efficiency of the facility.
After the completion of the trials, the runway and related infrastructure were declared compliant with professional aviation standards and high safety protocols. Officials involved in the process said that the airport’s readiness marks an important milestone for the region, which has faced connectivity challenges due to terrain and security conditions.
The reopening of Parachinar Airport is expected to facilitate improved access for residents of the area, particularly in emergency situations and for transport of essential goods and services.
Security and aviation authorities have also emphasized that further operational schedules will be determined in line with standard aviation procedures. Additional assessments may continue as part of routine monitoring to ensure sustained safety and functionality.
Local officials have welcomed the development, noting that improved air connectivity could contribute to better integration of remote areas with the rest of the country. However, no official timeline has yet been announced for the resumption of regular passenger flights.
